Sub-head 74. Extension of roads Kowloon Tong Development area $38,000. This pro- vides for the extension of the road on the east side of the 2nd. section of the Kowloon Tong Development area. In view of the progress of the Kowloon Tong scheme it is considered necessary to complete this road in 1928.

75. Side wall and invert of nullah, east side of Kowloon Tong Development Scheme $5,000.-This provides for the construction of the nullah on the east side of the 1st. section of the Kowloon Tong Development area. Work in progress and to be completed in 1928.
76. Kowloon Tong Development area-connection to stream north of hill area to main nullah $15,000.-This provides for the construction of the mullah on the east side of the 2nd section of the Kowloon Tong Development area. Work in progress and to be completed in 1928.
77. Kowloon Tong Development area. Sewers $14,000. This provides for the construction of sewers on the 1st and 2nd sections of the Kowloon Tong Development areas. Work in progress and to be completed in 1928.
78. Kowloon Tong Development area Storm Water Drains $60,000.-This pro- vides for the construction of storm water drains on the 1st and 2nd sections of the Kowloon Tong Developin nt areas. Work in progress and to be completed in 1928.

79. Surfacing $c. roads Kowloon Tong Development
$70,000. This provides for the surfacing of roads on the 1st and 2nd sections of the Kowloon Tong Development areas. Work in progress and to be completed in 1928.
80. Kowloon Tong Development Scheme-Excavation and filling $6,000.-This provides for the forming of the 1st and 2nd sections of the Kowloon Tong Development areas. Work in progress and to be completed in 1928.
81. Filling in large area Kowloon City $20,000.-To provide for the filling in of low-lying areas to the South west of Kowloon City for exchanges. The scheme has been reduced for reasons of economy and the amended scheme is to be completed in 1928.
$2. Refuse Dump at Cheung Sha Wan $7,500.—This provides for the covering
over of refuse dumped on the Foreshore at Cheung Sha Wan.
83. Filling in areas at Tong Mi and Kowloon Tong $50,000. This provides for the gradual filling in of low-lying areas at Tong Mi and Kowloon Tong to get rid of malarial breeding areas. The work is essential for reasons of health.
84. Chinese Cemeteries laying out neir areas $2,000.---This sum is to provide
for necessary grave spaces.
85. Exhumation. Chinese Cemeteries $5,000.-Necessary for removal of graves in closed Chinese Cemeteries in development areas, and for creating further burial space in existing Chinese Cemeteries.
$6. Lai Chi Kok Gaol. Fire fighting appliances $5,600.-Present equipment
inadequate. To be completed in 1928.
87. New muin &c. to Kowloon Tong Estate $10,000.—Provides for the water service to the Kowloon Tong Development area. Work in progress and to be completed in 1928.
88. Further Reclamation at Sham S ́ui Po $120,000.—It has been decided to close down the reclamation at Sham Shui Po by finishing off the work now partly completed, and leaving further reclamation for future consideration. The sum asked for is necessary to make a satisfactory finish to the work.
89. Compensation and Resumptions $75,000. This sum is to meet compensa-
tion and resumptions during 1928.
Sub-head. 90. Anglo-Chinese School Cheung Chau $40,000.-It has not been found possible to proceed rapidly with this work in 1927, and the greater part of the ex- penditure will fall on the 1928 Estimates.
91. Gardeners Quarters at Sheung Shui $5,000,-To provide for one married and four unmarried gardeners' quarters at Sheung Shui. Work in progress and to be completed in 1928.
92. Block House on Frontier at Lim Ma Hang $7,500.-This work is required
for frontier protection. To be completed in 1928.

100. Wireless Telegraph for Tai O $7,300.-This installation is required to make this outstation independent of the Telephone service in case the wires are damaged. To be completed in 1928.
101. Replacing wooden by iron telephone poles on Lan Tau Island $16,500.-This work is required owing to the deterioration of the existing wooden poles from which the telephone wires are suspended. To be completed in 1928.
102. Compensation and Resumptions $5,000.-This sum is to meet sundry re-
sumptions by the District Officers during 1928. reduced for reasons of economy.
